Boston Lock & Safe Company: A Tradition of Locksmith Excellence.
Boston Lock & Safe Company carries on the fine tradition of James and Thomas Winship, who opened a small locksmith and blacksmith shop in 1776. Little did these tinkerers ever dream that one day they would be importing harness-ware and leather goods, along with marine and carriage hardware, to become manufacturers of lock and clock parts to serve a growing Boston.
In 1790, "Boston Lock" was born and engaged exclusively in the distribution and manufacture of locking devices and hardware while other Winship family members pursued clock making, luggage manufacture, and cattle raising. Today, more than 200 years later, Boston Lock & Safe Co. has grown beyond the bounds of serving "Olde Bostonia" and New England to once again importing, manufacturing, and conducting sales and service on a nationwide basis.
An elite corps of security consultants, master locksmiths, and safe experts offer craftsmanship and integrity, drawing from the largest selection of security hardware under one roof. Having survived famine, wars, and depression, the heir to a little yankee firm whose proudest claim was to boast "America's Oldest Locksmiths," continues to maintain high standards.
